The 2024 edition of the European Football Championship have kicked off with a bang as Germany blasted Scotland 5-1 in the tournament opener. For the Germans their youngsters Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala stole the show by it was veteran star Toni Kroos who controlled the game with his incredible passing ability.
The German midfielder received a lot of adulation for his performance as it will be the last tournament of his career. But Kroos isn’t the only one, who will be featuring in the Euros for the last time. So let us look at five players are playing in their final European Championship.

Arguably the greatest footballer of the all-time, Cristiano Ronaldo has dominated the Euros time and again with his nearly invincible goal-scoring ability. Be it as a youngster or as a veteran, CR7 has ran riot in the Euros being the highest-goal scorer in tournament history. But the 2024 edition could most likely be his last and he will hope recreate the victorious 2016 campaign in Germany.
Luka Modric (Croatia)
Another all-time great of the game, midfielder Luka Modric has been the cornerstone of Croatian football throughout his illustrious career. Though Modric hasn’t managed to take the Croats deep into a European Championship, he has consistently carried his national team to great highest like the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups. Hence with Euro 2024 possibly being Modric last major tournament he will hope to finish on a high.
Toni Kroos (Germany)
The next name on the list is a former teammate of Ronaldo and Modric, Toni Kroos of Germany. The Real Madrid legend announced retirement from club football after winning the Los Blancos their 15th Champions League title. Hence this seems like the end of the road for the German maestro because which he would want to win the one trophy that has eluded him his career in front of his home fans.
Robert Lewandowski (Poland)
Deemed one of the most clinical finishers in footballing histroy, Poland’s Robert Lewandowski is most likely featuring in his final European Championship. The FC Barcelona star has been one of the most consistent performers on the club level and but has struggled to score in the Euros. But after a great 2020 European Championship campaign, Lewa will look to finish on the high in the 2024 edition.
Olivier Giroud (France)
Last but not least, Veteran forward and France’s highest scorer Olivier Giroud confirmed that he will retire after the on-going Euro 2024. Hence the former Chelsea forward would be eager finish off his international career with a trophy. Giroud and the Les Bleus were inches away from winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup and would hope to finish his career on a high.
