Kylian Mbappe confirms skipping Paris Olympics to focus on Real Madrid commitment

Kylian Mbappe, the French footballing star, has confirmed that he will not be taking part in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. In a press conference before the opening Group D match for France against Austria in UEFA Euro 2024, the 25-year-old remarked he is going to focus on joining his new club Real Madrid, which is why he won’t be available for the Olympic Games.

Notably, Kylian Mbappe was not included in the 25-member preliminary squad of France for the Paris 2024 earlier this month. But, the French head coach, Thierry Henry, had left the door open for the former PSG footballer to get involved in the Olympic sojourn this July and August.

While talking to the reporters ahead of the UEFA Euro 2024 match, Kylian Mbappe said, “My club’s position was very clear, so from that moment on, I think I (knew) I won’t be taking part in the Games. That’s just the way it is, and I understand that too. I’m joining a new team in September, so it’s not the best way to start an adventure.”

“I’m going to wish this French team all the best. I’m going to watch every game. I hope they’ll win the gold medal,” he added.

Kylian Mbappe urges French public to vote against extremes in election

After the French President, Emmanuel Macron, made a shock announcement to call for a snap parliamentary election, the country went into political turmoil. Kylian Mbappe addressed the situation in his country during the UEFA Euro 2024 press conference, urging the French public to vote against extremes in the election.

He said, “This is a never-seen-before event. And that is why I want to talk to the whole of the French people, but also the youth. We are a generation that can make a difference. We see the extremes are knocking on the door of power and we have the opportunity to shape our country’s future.”
