WATCH: Hardik Pandya smashes 98m six vs AFG in T20 WC 2024; leaves Virat Kohli in shock

The T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8s clash between India and Afghanistan witnessed a massive six by all-rounder Hardik Pandya, nearly crossing the 100m barrier. Playing at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, the Men in Blue won the toss and elected to bat first but got off to a struggling start. After losing the openers and Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya rebuilt the innings with SKY taking the aggressor’s role.

The pair were in sublime form before Yadav got out after an incredible 53 in 28 balls. Then it was Pandya’s turn to hit the big shots and then took on Naveen-ul-Haq in the 18th over. The Afghani pacer sent out a leg-cutter which Pandya smashed on the stadium’s roof.

Reacting to this massive shot Indian batting great Virat Kohli was in utter shock and awe which has since gone viral on social media. Later it was revealed that the Pandya six clocked a distance of 98m, making it one the biggest in the tournament.

I just backed my game and my instincts: Suryakumar Yadav

In the mid-innings, Suryakumar Yadav spoke about his approach in the middle overs. SKY said,  “That’s what I have practised, I enjoy batting from (7-15 overs) that’s the most difficult phase where the opposition bowlers look to control things. I like to take charge in that phase, I enjoy it.”

“I started chewing my gum harder when he (Kohli) got out. I just backed my game and my instincts. I have played a lot of cricket with him (Rohit Sharma) and now under him, he understands my game. He knows my game, so he sits back and enjoys it. It’s a good total, let’s see what happens now.”
