The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on Friday, June 21 confirmed that shotgun shooter Shreyasi Singh will participate in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics and successful quota swap by the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF). Singh’s inclusion in the 2024 Paris Olympics team implies and that India will field 21-member team at the Summer Games, set to take place in July-August.
Furthermore, it is to be noted that Shreyasi will start alongside Rajeshwari Singh in the women’s trap event. “We have requested the ISSF to change one quota place from 10m Air Pistol Women to Trap Women and have received correspondence from them that it has been accepted,” said Sultan Singh, Secretary General, NRAI.
“As a result, Shreyashi Singh has now been added to the original list of 20 names published and we will have a full quota of two starts in the Women’s Trap event,” he added. In the sport of shooting, the national federations can swap a quota if one shooter is playing more than one event. Here in this scenario, Manu Bhaker, who had qualified in both women’s 10m air pistol and 25m air pistol events, meant that NRAI had one place that could be reallocated. It has now been taken by Shreyasi Singh.
