After Pakistan’s early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, members of the team are set to join a new team. Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam, who led the side in the T20 World Cup 2024 as well as the ODI World Cup last year, is all set to join a new franchise. The top-order batter will make his debut for the Vancouver Knights in the Global T20 Canada.
Knights, who are the inaugural champions of the tournament (2018), will also get the services of Mohammad Rizwan, who was roped in last year. Rizwan has been retained by the franchise after he scored 190 runs in the five matches in the previous edition of the tournament. Apart from the two stalwarts, Mohammad Amir, who took a U-turn from retirement to take part in the T20 World Cup 2024, will also side along with Asif Ali.
Former Pakistan captain and pace spearhead, Shaheen Shah Afridi will also feature in the 2024 edition of the Global T20 Canada after he was signed by the Toronto Nationals.
The fourth edition of the GT20 will be played from July 25 to August 11 at the TD Cricket Arena in Brampton. The tournament, which is played in T20 format, features six teams, namely, Montreal Tigers, Surrey Jaguars, Toronto Nationals, Bangla Tigers Mississauga, Brampton Wolves and Vancouver Knights.
