India are set to play against Australia in their final Super 8 Group 1 clash in the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. After winning their first two matches in the current stage of the tournament against Afghanistan and Bangladesh, the Indian cricket team are quite close to reaching the semifinal, but they need to be at their best against Australia.
In this article, SportsTiger looks at India’s probable playing XI versus Australia in the Super 8 Group 1 clash of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Openers: Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli got off to a flying start against Bangladesh in their previous outing as openers in the T20 World Cup 2024, depositing the bowlers out of the ground on a few occasions. But they also lost their wickets in quick succession in search for more boundaries, which isn’t such a bad tactic with a batting lineup that extends till eight.
Middle Order: Rishabh Pant (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya
Rishabh Pant has looked to be ultra-aggressive in the T20 World Cup 2024, scoring runs very quickly, which was the case against Bangladesh as well, while his wicket-keeping skills keep on getting better and better since his recent return to cricket. Suryakumar Yadav missed out versus Bangladesh in their previous match, but his performances in the tournament have been quite impressive with the bat.
Shivam Dube put together an innings of substance against Bangladesh, taking their bowlers to the cleaners with brutal power hitting in the latter phase of his innings. Hardik Pandya top scored for India in this match, registering his first fifty of the tournament, followed by a key wicket of the top order batter, who was in a good touch.
Lower Middle Order: Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel
Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel didn’t have much to do with bat or ball against Bangladesh in their previous T20 World Cup 2024 match. But still, their presence provides a much-needed balance to the Indian playing XI, especially when these two all-rounders are exceptional in the field as well.
Tailenders: Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah
Kuldeep Yadav came into his own in the previous outing against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup 2024, bamboozling the batters and picking up three wickets in total. Jasprit Bumrah picked up wickets with an exceptional economy rate once again in the tournament, this time versus Bangladesh, while Arshdeep Singh delivered a decent bowling spell too.
