Hockey India announces 16-member men’s squad for Paris Olympics 2024

Hockey India announced the men’s 16-member squad that will participate in the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian Men’s Hockey Team will compete in the quadrennial tournament from July 26 to August 11. The squad will have five members making their debut, training and preparing at the ongoing national camp at the SAI Centre in Bengaluru. The team will be led by ace defender Harmanpreet Singh, whereas mid-fielder Hardik Singh will be the vice-captain. 

This will be Harmanpreet Singh’s third Olympics after having debuted at the 2016 Rio Olympics as the youngest team member. The squad also features veteran PR Sreejesh and Manpreet Singh, who are set to play their fourth Olympics. Speaking on the team selection, Chief Coach Craig Fulton said, “Each player selected has demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and resilience throughout our rigorous preparation phase. Our journey has been marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence and a collective drive to elevate Indian hockey on the world stage.”

Midfielders: Rajkumar Pal,  Shamsher Singh,  Manpreet Singh,  Hardik Singh,  Vivek Sagar Prasad    

Forwards:  Abhishek,  Sukhjeet Singh,  Lalit Kumar Upadhyay,  Mandeep Singh,  Gurjant Singh

Alternate Athletes: Nilakanta Sharma,  Jugraj Singh,  Krishan Bahadur Pathak
