The Rohit Sharma-led Team India are on an unbeaten streak, similar to South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024, underway in West Indies and USA. The 36-year-old played a 92-run knock against Australia and helped put 205 runs on the board in their allotted overs. Afterwards, it was the Indian bowlers who stood up to the occasion and restricted the Aussies at 181, eventually winning the match by 24 runs and confirming their semifinals berth.
The Men in Blue will next take on reigning champions, England in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27. Ahead of the crucial match, skipper Rohit Sharma opened up on how will they tackle their English opponents in the Caribbean conditions.
“We don’t want to do anything different, play the same way, and understand what each person has to do. Play freely and not think too much about what’s lying ahead. Do not think about the opposition. We have been doing it consistently, just need to continue,” Rohit Sharma said after India’s win against Australia.
“It would be nice, nothing changes for us as a team. We want to focus on what we have been doing well,” the Indian skipper further added.
It is to be noted that the upcoming semifinal clash between India and England will be a repeat of the 2022 T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue suffered a 10-wicket defeat in Adelaide after a dismal batting approach.
