Team India to leave for Delhi from Barbados on July 2 after T20 World Cup 2024 win: Reports

The Indian men’s team is set to depart from Bridgetown, Barbados on July 2, Tuesday. The Men in Blue have been in the Caribbean since their T20  World Cup 2024 triumph on June 29 where they took down South Africa by seven runs. Team India will travel directly to New Delhi and is expected to meet with the Prime Minister.

After going undefeated through the World Cup, India took the Proteas and broke their 13-year World Cup curse in spectacular fashion. But since that result, the Indian team have been in Bridgetown due to Hurricane Beryl. As per Cricbuzz, the BCCI managers have attempted to arrange a charter flight to transport the players home but faced obstacles due to the airport’s closure.

The report stated the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) is set to reopen later today, with air traffic expected to resume. The officials at the  GAIA Airport have been assessing the damages. The Cricbuzz report also quoted a local media organisation about an airport official addressing the situation.

The official said, “We just need to make sure that when we do our assessment, everything is clean and safe so that we can welcome our passengers because, as you can appreciate, after the all-clear is given by the officials, which it has, then our team needs to come in and do their assessment so that everyone else can have their operations run as smoothly as possible.”
