David Miller on Tuesday, June 2 expressed himself after South Africa’s loss against India in the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados. The Men in Blue triumphed over their Protean opponent on Saturday, June 29 to end their 11-year-long ICC trophy drought and get back the T20 World Cup title after 17 years.
With 16 needed of final six deliveries, Miller who is known for his crucial performances, attempted a big shot but was caught by Suryakumar Yadav near the boundary rope. This turned the tide of the game in favour of India with them coming out on top with seven runs. After this disappointing loss, David Miller opened up on it, calling it “tough pill to swallow”.
“I am gutted!! Really tough pill to swallow after what transpired 2 days ago. Words don’t explain how I am feeling. One thing I do know is how proud I am of this unit. This journey was an incredible one, with highs and lows throughout the entire month. We have endured pain, but I know this team has the resilience and will keep raising the bar,” Miller captioned a post on Instagram.
In other posts he also lauded the efforts of his teammates, including captain Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock. While he reckoned Markram as “Skip you’ve been a rock”, he also shared a picture with wicketkeeper-batter QDK writing, “Many a good time spent with this man!”
