WATCH: Hugh Jackman lauds favourite Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma after T20 World Cup triumph

Hollywood star Hugh Jackman named Indian skipper Rohit Sharma as his favourite cricketer from the Indian cricket team. During a promotional interview for the Marvel film, Deadpool & Wolverine, alongside his co-star, Ryan Reynolds, the Australian actor, who is an avid cricket fan, called Rohit Sharma a “beast” for his batting exploits during India’s T20 World Cup triumph.

During the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma played some of the best cricket in his T20I career, scoring 257 at an average over 36 and a strike rate over 156. He went on to smash Hugh Jackman’s countrymen in particular, during a Super 8 match, scoring 92 off 40 versus Australia, to play a key role in eliminating them from the tournament before the knockout stage.

Marvel India took to their official X account to release a snippet of the Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds interview, which was conducted by the YouTubers Dhruv Shah and Shyam Sharma of Funcho. During the short clip, Reynolds stated that Jackman was obsessed with cricket before the Aussie called Rohit Sharma his current favourite cricketer from the Indian squad.

Hugh Jackman was quite glad about the Indian cricket team taking home the T20 World Cup before saying that “he was a beast,” regarding Rohit Sharma’s batting exploits.

Apart from Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool & Wolverine also features the likes of Morena Baccarin, Emma Corrin, Leslie Uggams, Rob Delaney, Macfayden, and Karan Soni, among others. The film is set to be released in theatres in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on July 26.
