The Women in Blue are all set to kickoff their campaign at the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, which starts today, July 19 in Dambulla. Entering the tournament as the defending champions, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will take on arch-rivals Pakistan Women in their campaign opener at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla, Sri Lanka on Friday, July 19.
Ahead of the campaign opener, the eight team captains of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 addressed the media. During the pre-tournament press conference, the Indian skipper was questioned about the lack of media coverage after a series of incident took place in Bangladesh. When asked about lack of media coverage during India’s tour of Bangladesh, Harmanpreet dropped a witty one-liner, leaving everyone with smirking smiles.
As the reporter asked, “There have been concerns about the importance of women’s cricket, especially after the Bangladesh tour, less journalists have appeared at your press conferences. What’s your opinion on this?”, Harmanpreet Kaur was quick to add that it’s none of her business. “Well, that’s none of my business. You guys have to come and cover us,” she replied.
