WATCH: LeBron James beats Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis in free throw competition during Team USA practice session

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James beat his USA teammates Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis in a free throw competition during their practice session ahead of the Olympics 2024. The U.S. men’s team recently faced an unexpected challenge in a warm-up game against South Sudan. In the game played at the O2 Arena in London, the team narrowly escaped a major upset, owing to the performance of LeBron James.

LA Lakers’ superstar, James came up with a stellar performance and delivered 23 points. Following the game, a video of the team practising started making rounds on social media, where James could be seen showing why he is better than the rest of his teammates. In a video from Team USA’s practice session, James was seen beating Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis and Tyrese Haliburton in a free throw shooting contest.

Both Embiid and Haliburton tried to make a free throw but failed to do so. While Haliburton couldn’t dunk, the ball hit the board first as Davis attempted the shot. On the other hand, LeBron James was the only one who successfully attempted a free throw, even though he is not one of the best free throw shooters.

People get fooled by names on paper; James is not what he used to be: Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid opened up on Team USA’s chances of winning the gold medal at the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. He said, “You look at the team that the U.S. has, but there’s also equal talent on other teams. The talent that’s on the U.S. team, you also got to understand that most of those guys are also older. Like the Lebron now is not the Lebron that was a couple years ago so it’s a big difference.”

Embiid continued, “I think people get fooled by names on paper. Those names have been built throughout their career and now they’re older. They are not what they used to be.”
