In cricket, there are several records which have been made and broken throughout the years. Whenever a player achieves any milestone or records in cricket, it might take several years for the any other player to cross that record.
However, some records in cricket can also be broken within a few months or just days. On the other hand, there are some players who have set some of the legendary cricket records, that are nearly impossible to break and that record will be forever associated with those players in the history of the game.
In the following listicle, we will have a look at some cricket records which are impossible to break
Unbreakable Cricket Records
Longest International Career – Wilfred Rhodes
India’s cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar had a 24-year long career in international cricket. However, he didn’t have the longest career as this record belongs to the former England cricketer. Wilfred Rhodes. Playing his first international match in 1899, Rhodes had a three-decade long career in international cricket till 1930. He played for 30 years and 315 for England in international cricket.
Highest Test Total by a team – Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan cricket team holds the record highest-ever total in Test cricket. In a match against India in Colombo in 1997, Sri Lanka posted a record- 952/6 on board in reply to India’s 537/8. Sanath Jayasuriya (340 runs) and Roshan Mahanama (225) were the two top scorers for Sri Lanka. With this, Sri Lanka also broke England’s 59-year-old record of 903/7 in 1938. However, it wouldn’t be an easy task for any Test team to go even near Sri Lanka’s highest Test total.
Oldest Test Captain – William Gilbert Grace
In today’s time, the cricketers mostly retire in their late 30s. However, there was a cricketer from England who captained England’s Test team in his 50s. Six on a first ball of the Test match – Chris Gayle
Test cricket is known to be a game of patience where players might take few deliveries to get their first run. However, this didn’t apply on the former West Indies cricketer, Chris Gayle who smashed the first ball of a Test match for six. He achieved this feat in a Test match against Bangladesh in Dhaka on November 13, 2012.
Highest Average in Test cricket – Don Bradman
Mostly, the player with an average of 40 or 50 is considered as a great cricketer. However, Australia’s great Sir Don Bradman was far-far ahead of any of the current batters in the world in terms of average. The former cricketer finished his career with an average of 99.94 in Test cricket. However, if he could have scored just four runs in his last international match, his average would have been 100.

However, Sunil Narine is the first and only player in history to bowl a maiden super over in cricket. The West Indies achieved this records during a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match between Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel and Guyana Amazon Warriors in Guyana on July 17, 2014.
