Real Madrid become first football club to generate €1 billion in revenue

Real Madrid  have become the first football club in the world to generate a revenue of more than €1 billion ($1.08bn). According to the financial report for 2023-24, the Galacticos earned a whopping €1.073bn in revenue to be exact, 27% higher than last season, while their total gain was €230 million, but it didn’t include player transfer details.

It was reported that Real Madrid generated after-tax profit of €16m, 32% higher in comparison to the last season’s figure. The off the field numbers for Real Madrid are unprecedented, and the credit goes to their first team for winning the record-extending 15th UEFA Champions League , La Liga, and the Spanish Super Cup.

In their detailed statement on their financial success, Real Madrid said, “This is an unprecedented figure for any football club.”

The Spanish Giants spoke about how their stadium, Santiago Berbaneu wasn’t fully operational for the 2023-24 season, but still, they managed to achieve record revenue numbers. They said, “Despite the stadium not being fully operational, the Club has succeeded in eclipsing the one-billion-euro mark in operating income before disposal of fixed assets.”

Real Madrid spoke about how there was growth in all sectors of their footballing operations except broadcasting rights. “Every line of business has seen growth, with the exception of broadcasting rights, where revenues received from LaLiga in 2023-24 were lower than in the 2022-23 season,” they wrote.

“The club expects this commercial boost to continue and grow even stronger in the 2024-25 financial year, supported by the image-related benefits derived from both the composition of the playing squad and sporting success, as well as the renovated stadium,” Real Madrid further added.
