West Indies’ Kevin Sinclair sustains fractured forearm; ruled out of third Test vs England

Kevin Sinclair, the West Indies all-rounder, sustained a fractured left forearm courtesy of Mark Wood’s fiery bouncer during the fourth day of the second Test versus England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The 24-year-old has been ruled out of the third and final Test match of the series, set to be played from July 26 at Edgbaston, Birmingham, where his replacement will be Gudakesh Motie.

The injury to Kevin Sinclair happened on day four of the second Test when the West Indies were in pursuit of a daunting 385-run target. The 92 mph bouncer from Mark Wood was too hot for the right-handed batter, who fended it off, only for the ball to land in the safe hands of Zak Crawley in the England slip cordon.

After the umpire gave Kevin Sinclair out, he reviewed the dismissal before calling the physio to tend to him. The DRS showed that the ball made an impact with the sweatband of Sinclair’s left glove, which meant that he had to walk back to the pavilion for one run off 17 balls,

With just a few minutes remaining to the close of play on day four, England bundled out West Indies for just 143, to earn a comprehensive 241-run victory in the second Test in front of a packed house at Trent Bridge. The big win also ensured England took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series.  Notably, Kevin Sinclair replaced Gudakesh Motie in the second Test match after  the latter fell ill  on the morning of the game.
