Former Brazilian footballer Zico robbed ahead of Paris Olympics opening ceremony

The 2024 Paris Olympics must have taken the centre stage, but there has been news around several different happenings which has constantly added some signs of worry. Amid many such, former Brazilian footballer, Zico reported to the police in France after his bag which contained some of his valuables was stolen.

The 71-year-old former Flamengo forward, who is currently in Paris filed a complaint with the police on Friday, July 26 after his bag, which reportedly contained cash, watches and some of his diamond jewellery was stolen. The Brazilian international reported that he was in transit when the incident occurred and had left his car window open. 

According to a Parisien daily, the goods of Zico are reportedly worth USD 542,000, while another source from the AFP has informed that the sum has been exaggerated. Moreover, it is to be noted that the Selecao legend is in Paris as a guest of the Brazilian Olympic team for the Paris 2024. 

2024 Paris Olympics declared open in extravagant opening ceremony

The 33rd edition of the Summer Olympics were declared open on Friday, July 26 in the French capital city of Paris. The ceremony was first of its kind in several different ways. While it was the first time in the history of the Olympic Games that the opening ceremony did not take place in a stadium, rather was held at River Seine. 

Moreover, the national delegations of the countries were seen taking a boat ride for a distance of 6km in front of the Trocadero.
