Paris Olympics 2024 Badminton: PV Sindhu beats Maldives’ Fathimath Nabaaha Razzaq 21-9, 21-6 in Group M

The two-time Olympic medallist, PV Sindhu edged past her Maldives’ opponent Fathimath Nabaaha Razzaq in less than an hour to kickstart her group stage campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian shuttler faced no trouble in winning the opening set comfortably, 21-9 in less than 20 minutes.

She continued her domination over her Maldives opponent as she cleared her way to advance into the next round with a 21-6 win in the second set. During her match which went on for 29 minutes, registered 18 most consecutive points. She further took over a 28-point lead, which was the biggest in the match.

It is to be noted that the two-time Olympic medallist has been drawn in Group M for the women’s singles competition. Sindhu has been drawn alongside Kristin Kuuba of Estonia and the Maldivian. The Indian shuttler is seeded 10th at the Olympic draw and could probably face two-time World Championships medallist He Bingjao of People’s republic of China in the round of 16. 

Furthermore, if Sundhu emerges victorious, she could potentially face reigning champion Chen Yufei in the quarterfinals.
