WATCH: Novak Djokovic gets hero’s welcome by sea of fans in Serbia post Paris Olympics 2024 win

Serbia tennis icon  Novak Djokovic  got a rousing welcome by a sea of fans as he returned to home with his Paris Olympics 2024 gold medal. Djokovic came up with one of the finest performances of his career and won the only title left in his bucket list. With this, he became the only fifth player to win all four singles Grand Slam  and the Olympic title. The Serbian got better of his Spanish rival Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s single and won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. 

Upon his return, Djokovic got a rousing reception by millions of fans. He along with other Serbian athletes received a jubilant reception at the Belgrade’s The Old Palace. Apart from Serbian basketball star Nikola Jokic was also present there. As the anchor called Djokovic, he made his way out amidst the cheer and showed his Olympics gold medal to the fans who were present there. 

The tennis legend took to X to share a video of his welcome, and accompanied it with the caption, “A golden homecoming.  KOD KUĆE JE NAJLEPŠE,” which roughly translates into “being at home is the most beautiful.” Notably, with his gold, Djokovic became the oldest man to win the Olympics singles title since tennis’ return in 1988.

Talking about Djokovic, the Serbian was in sublime form at the Summer Games 2024. He claimed the gold without dropping a set in six matches at the Roland Garros. He was quoted by Reuters as saying, “I won the bronze in my first Olympic Games (2008) and ever since then failed to win the medal and played three out of four Olympic Games in semifinals and couldn’t overcome that obstacle.”
