Thank you, King: Netizens react as Virat Kohli completes 16 years in international cricket

Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, who is one of the greatest batters of all time, has completed 16 years in international cricket today August 18, 2024. After making his India debut in an ODI in 2008, Virat Kohli has gone on to achieve unprecedented success in cricket, winning major trophies for the national team apart from his accolades.

During his ongoing international career, Virat Kohli established himself as the chase master in ODI cricket, possessing an incredible average touching nearly 60. In the Test format, he has been through highs and lows with the bat, while his T20I batting is largely defined by his ability to score runs consistently at a high tempo, which isn’t quite the case for most other batters in the world.

The Delhi-born cricketer has won all the major ICC trophies in white-ball cricket, including the ODI World Cup in 2011, the Champions Trophy in 2013, and the T20 World Cup in 2024. As far as the Test format goes, he has been a part of the Indian squad in multiple WTC finals, defeating Australia twice down under in a Test series apart from being the number-one team in the world on a few occasions.

After 16 years of cricket at the highest level, Virat Kohli is still going strong after announcing his retirement from the T20I format recently. With that, he is putting his firm attention on the ODI and the Test formats, seemingly looking to continue playing at least for a couple of years in the Indian colours.
