On Monday, September 2, Bangladesh found themselves just 143 runs away with 10 wickets in hand in the second innings, to win the second Test match and series 2-0 against hosts Pakistan. At the close of play on day four at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which ended abruptly due to bad light, Bangladesh were 42/0 with their openers Shadman Islam and Zakir getting off to a brilliant start in pursuit of 185-run target.
Notably, during the second session on day four, Bangladesh bundled out Pakistan for just 172 runs in their second innings after their pacers Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana shared nine wickets amongst themselves. This was a second straight batting collapse for Pakistan in the second innings of a Test match versus Bangladesh, putting themselves in a precarious position with the series on the line.
