WATCH: Not MS Dhoni or Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir hails THIS Indian cricketer as ‘Shehensah’

Former India opener and current head coach Gautam Gambhir picked the ‘Shehenshah’ of cricket. Gambhir, who is known for his calm and composed demeanour, has often found himself in the midst of controversy with bold statements. Recently, the newly appointed head coach of the Indian senior men’s team once again made a remark that quickly went viral among cricket fans. The 2011 World Cup winner was present during the final clash of the DPL 2024 where he was felicitated by the Delhi District and Cricket Association (DDCA).

During a lively segment at the Delhi Premier League (DPL 2024), Gambhir was asked to assign a Bollywood movie title to Indian cricketers where he dubbed the talismanic batter as the ‘Shehenshah of Cricket’. During the fun segment, TV presenter Shefali Bagga asked Gambhir to assign titles to cricketers based on their personalities. When he was asked who should be the ‘Shehenshah’ (Emperor), he immediately named modern-day batting icon Virat Kohli.

Me, myself: Gautam Gambhir gives himself THIS fancy tag

During the fun segment, Gambhir was asked to give a few more tags to other cricketers. When he was asked to assign the title of ‘Badshah’, he named former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and picked Sachin Tendulkar as ‘Dabang’. Not only this, but when he was asked to pick a befitting name for the title of ‘Angry Young Man’, he chose himself and said, “Me, Myself”. Gambhir was also asked who he thinks is the ‘Khiladi’, to which he said that Jasprit Bumrah deserves the title, while adding that his title was “more important that all these”.

Notably, Gambhir is set to take charge of the Indian team for the first time in the red-ball format in Bangladesh Test series, which is set to begin on September 19 in Chennai. The series will also see Kohli returning to the format after a long gap of nine months. The cricketer had missed the England series earlier in the year due to the birth of his second child, Akaay Kohli.
