With the new retention rules set by the BCCI, the franchises can now retain six players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. In case the franchises don’t retain any of their players, they can use six right-to-match (RTM) cards instead during the auction, which allow them to bring their best players back to the squad for the same price at which any other franchise makes a final bid.

Delhi Capitals (DC) didn’t have a good outing in the last three editions of the IPL. Jake Fraser-McGurk
Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk took IPL 2024 to fire with his destructive batting in his debut season in the cash-rich league. The right-hander gave fiery starts to DC, and took full use of the powerplay, scoring 330 runs from nine games batting at a deadly strike rate of 234.04 in the entire season. He could be the first overseas player to get retained by DC at a price of INR 11 crore.
Tristan Stubbs
Tristan Stubbs has provided strength to DC’s middle order in the IPL. The South African batter scored 378 runs from 14 matches in IPL 2024 at a strike rate of 190.90. However, he might not fit in the price bracket, and DC might release him before the auction.
