Bowling coach Dale Steyn confirms his exit from SunRisers Hyderabad ahead of IPL 2025

Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn, who also served as a bowling coach for SunRisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has now confirmed that he won’t be a part of the franchise for the next edition in 2025. However, Steyn also mentioned that he will continue his role for SRH’s sister franchise Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the South Africa T20 League (SA20) in 2025. Dale Steyn shared news of him leaving SRH through a post from his social media account.

Notably, Dale Steyn was appointed as a bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of IPL 2022. However SRH didn’t have a good outing in 2022 and 2023 as they failed to qualify for the playoffs in both editions. Steyn made him unavailable for SRH ahead of IPL 2024 and his place was filled by former New Zealand bowler James Franklin. SRH had a great season in 2024 as they qualified for the final after six years.

Big thank you to Sunrisers Hyderabad: Dale Steyn confirms leaving SRH

Dale Steyn took to social media to announce his exit from Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of IPL 2025. The former cricketer said that he won’t be rerouting for IPL 2025 but is ready to join Sunrisers Eastern Cape as the franchise will be looking to win their third consecutive title in the South Africa T20 League 2025.

“Cricket announcement. A big thank you to Sunrisers Hyderabad for my few years with them as bowling coach at the IPL, unfortunately, I won’t be returning for IPL 2025.  However, I will continue to work with Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20 here in South Africa. Two time winners here in SA20, let’s try make it THREE in a row,” Dale Steyn wrote on X.
