WATCH: Washington Sundar shatters stumps of in-form Rachin Ravindra and Tom Blundell on day one of Pune Test

On day one of the second Test match in Pune, the Indian right-arm off spinner, Washington Sundar made his return to the longest format after three years in style by shattering the stumps of in-form Rachin Ravindra and Tom Blundell of New Zealand in quick succession. At the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium, these two big wickets from Washington Sundar came just before the tea break, which put India ahead of the game.

At the start of the 60th over of the New Zealand innings, Washington Sundar fired the ball into the surface from the wide angle around the stumps, and after pitching on off stump, it turned sharply past the outside edge of Rachin Ravindra’s bat before crashing into the wickets. The left-handed batter had covered the original line of the ball, but it ended up sneaking past him to hit the off stump, sending him back into the pavilion for 65 off 105 with five fours and one maximum.

Just a couple of overs later, at the stroke of tea, Washington Sundar delivered a flighted delivery outside the off stump, to which right-handed batter Tom Blundell tried to turn it around the corner. But the New Zealander missed the ball completely before it smashed into his stumps, to bring curtains to his innings on just three off 12 balls.
