Real Madrid condemn racist behaviour from fans at Lamine Yamal during El Clasico; open investigation

On Sunday, October 27, Real Madrid issued an official statement to “strongly condemn” racist behaviour from a few fans, allegedly towards Lamine Yamal as per social media, in one of the corners of the Santiago Bernabeu during last night’s El Clasico against Barcelona, which they lost comprehensively by a 4-0 margin. The Galacticos also regretted the insults uttered by the fans in their home stadium before informing that they opened an investigation to locate and identify the perpetrators.

Real Madrid didn’t reveal the information about whom the racial insult was directed towards, but an official statement from them on the matter tells the severity of the situation. In the recent months and years, Vinicius Jr, the Real Madrid forward, had to endure a lot of racial abuse in various stadiums across Spain while playing La Liga, so it won’t be a surprise if the latest regrettable and despicable insult was directed towards him as well.

Real Madrid strongly condemns any type of behaviour involving racism, xenophobia or violence

The official statement from the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners on the racist behaviour from the fans during the latest instalment of El Clasico against Barcelona in La Liga read, “Real Madrid strongly condemns any type of behaviour involving racism, xenophobia or violence in football and sport, and deeply regrets the insults uttered by a few fans last night in one of the corners of the stadium.”

After detailing the racial insults made by a few fans at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid also revealed that the investigation is now underway to find the perpetrators. They wrote, “Real Madrid has opened an investigation to locate and identify the perpetrators of these regrettable and despicable insults, in order to adopt the appropriate disciplinary and judicial measures.”
