FC Barcelona has received a major blow with injuries to star players Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski. The club on Monday, November 11 informed that the 17-year-old youngster as well as veteran Robert Lewandowski have been ruled out for upcoming weeks after they sustained injuries in previous games. Both players notably underwent tests on Monday which revealed Yamal has an ankle injury and Lewandowski is facing injury in the lumbar region of his back.

This update follows Barcelona’s second loss in the Spanish league. Speaking of the two players, both have been crucial for Hansi Flick. With 14 goals in 13 games, Lewandowski leads La Liga’s scoresheet. One of Barcelona’s most dangerous forwards, Yamal, 17, assisted on a number of the goals as a part of an attack, outscoring opponents 40-12 in La Liga and 15-5 in the Champions League. Yamal has six goals in 15 games across all competitions.

Yamal to be out for upto three weeks; Lewandowski out of action for 10 days

According to the statement from the club, the 36-year-old Polish international will be out for ten days, missing Poland’s upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Portugal and Scotland. However, there is a high possibility that he could return for Barcelona’s next match, scheduled for November 23. Yamal, on the other hand, missed Sunday’s game due to a right ankle injury and is anticipated to be sidelined for two to three weeks.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), FC Barcelona captioned a post, “Tests this morning confirmed that first team player Lamine Yamal has a grade 1 high right ankle sprain. He is expected to be out for two to three weeks. Robert Lewandowski has suffered a lower back injury. He will be out of action for approximately 10 days.”

Further, the 17-year-old will miss Barca’s trip to Vigo, Spain’s games against Switzerland and Denmark on Monday and Thursday respectively. Additionally, he is doubtful for the Champions League match at home against Stade Brest on November 26 and the subsequent La Liga matches with Las Palmas.

Barcelona’s seven-game winning streak in all competitions came to an end on Sunday, November 10 after the 0-1 loss to Real Sociedad in La Liga. Real Madrid, who are in second position, are still six points behind the Catalan team.
