Another IPL season means another heap of drama, upsets, and fan theories. IPL 2025 has truly been the definition of unpredictable – Last-over thrillers, underdog victories, big names flopping, and youngsters exploding onto the scene. With the points table tighter than your jeans after a wedding buffet, fans are pulling their hair out trying to figure out which four teams will reach the playoffs. So, let’s do what cricket fans love to do most – hypothesize, dissect, and vehemently argue about who’s going to finish in the top four.
The Powerhouses: Can GT, RCB, and Mumbai Maintain Their Momentum?
The Gujarat Titans have continued their strong IPL form after debuting in 2022. It has been a team channeling a streamlined period of leadership changes, and even a few hiccups with their batting, especially its inconsistency from the top. They have had Mohit Sharma and Rashid Khan be clutch with their death bowling, and their top order contributes only when necessary, so they haven’t been blowing any teams.
RCB, on the other hand, is that buddy who is perpetually late but fashionably late this time, but seriously. It seems that with Faf, Virat, and green continuing to bat well and Mohammed Siraj leading a much-improved bowling attack, RCB are ready to break the curse of the trophy and stop the loss at the fingertips of being consistent.
Mumbai Indians are never really out of it, that is for sure; with Ishan Kishan starting to fire, and Jasprit Bumrah bowling like a maniac, MI has looked like a side that can truly dominate at times. What has helped MI is their adaptability this season; they have rotated players well, and Tim David’s finishing has saved them on more than one occasion.
Dark Horses: Delhi and Punjab – Can They Cross the Line This Time?
Delhi’s season has been a whirlwind. At points, they look like world-beaters, and at others, they look like a team remembering the rules of T20. What’s working for them is their exuberance — Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs are bringing some firepower to the middle overs, and Axar Patel has seemingly been their MVP, quietly offering control with the ball and some much-needed runs in the lower order. If they can cut out the collapses in the powerplay and the catch-up each inning, then Delhi could well sneak in.
In contrast, Punjab Kings have shown glimpses of a team that is finally coming into its own. Shikhar Dhawan’s understated captaincy, with Sam Curran and Liam Livingstone both playing the role of all-rounder nicely, is our reason for hope. Punjab’s fate may depend on how far its Indian core pushes it.

Can KKR or Another Underdog Pull Off a Late Miracle?
KKR have indeed been inconsistent, but unpredictable enough to have the opposition unsure of what to expect. Sunil Narine is seeing his form return, both with bat and ball, which only adds a new twist. Phil Salt is explosive at the top of the order, and with Andre Russell fit (if that’s even possible, and it usually isn’t), KKR have the potential to shake things up at the table. But they need a miracle – and for the teams above them to slip up – to get there.
And don’t count out teams like Lucknow Super Giants or even SRH. They’re behind the teams above them, so what? T20 is all about chaos. One week of good form, and the table could change more rapidly than a switch hit.
So, cricket community, who do you think will make it to the top four? Can Delhi or Punjab make it? Will it be another twist in the IPL storyline? Let us know your thoughts below, and let’s debate!
