The Indian men and women’s archery team on Monday, June 24 confirmed their 2024 Paris Olympics quota. This was confirmed after the world rankings were revised at the start of the week seeing the Road to the Olympics. The 2024 Paris Olympics will be played in the French capital from 26 July to 11 August.
The men and women’s team finished at the top of the rankings among non-qualified countries to earn the quota for the quadrennial showpiece event, scheduled to take place in the coming months. After earning the qualification, the Indian teams will be able to participate across all team, individual and mixed medal events at the Summer Games.
Furthermore, it is to be noted that China and India qualified for the men’s division, while Indonesia was the second country to guarantee the Olympics quota in the women’s division. A total of 12 teams will compete in each division, whereas five teams will participate in the mixed events.
In the men’s team, it will be the trio of Tarundeep Rai, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Pravin Jadhav taking up the charge. Tarundeep Rai, a 40-year-old Army veteran, will be making his fourth appearance in the Summer Games after he made his Olympics debut in 2004 Athens edition. Meanwhile, in the women’s team, which includes Deepika Kumari, Bhajan Kaur and Ankita Bhakat, the former will be making her fourth consecutive appearance having first participated in 2012 London Olympics.
