Ahead of the 5th T20I between Zimbabwe and India, Shubhman Gill, after winning the toss, confirmed the Men in Blue playing XI which didn’t include star batter Ruturaj Gaikwad. The Chennai Super Kings captain has been in stellar form throughout the series and hence many were left shocked as the 27-year-old wasn’t picked up.
Gaikwad has scored second-most in the series with a tally of 141 runs in four innings at an average of 70.50 and a 165.88 strike rate. However, he wasn’t part of the playing XI and fans rallied on social media to express their discontent with this decision. Many criticised the captain for the series Shubman Gill and alleged that the Gujarat Titans skipper took this call to win the Player of the Series award without any competition.
