All fame reaches god: Suryakumar Yadav shares emotional post after being named captain for Sri Lanka T20I series

India batter Suryakumar Yadav shared an emotional post after being named the T20I captain for the Sri Lanka series. On Thursday, July 18, BCCI announced India’s squad for the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, and in a surprise move, the cricket-controlling body named Yadav as the T20I captain instead of Hardik Pandya. After Rohit Sharma called time on his T20I career, Pandya wasn’t chosen to be his successor, after having captained the Indian T20I side throughout the 2023 season.

Suryakumar was named the captain after only seven matches in charge of the side. Out of those seven games, Men in Blue won five matches, whereas Yadav scored 300 runs. The reliable middle-order batter has always elevated his performance whenever handed leadership and scored two fifties and one century in those matches.

He added, “Playing for the country is the most special feeling that I will never be able to describe in words. This new role brings with it, a lot of responsibility, excitement and enthusiasm. I hope to keep receiving your support and blessings. All fame reaches God, God is great.”
