Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 to be moved out of Bangladesh? ICC drops BIG hint

Women cricket has seen a massive boost with the top women teams featuring in the Cricket World Cup. The top cricketing nations in women’s cricket, are set to play in the T20 World Cup later this year in Bangladesh. But ahead of the tournament, the country could be sacked of its hosting right due to the ongoing violence.

However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is keeping a close watch on the security situation, an ICC member has hinted that the tournament could move out of Bangladesh if the situation worsens. “We have independent security monitoring across the world. So yes, we are keeping a watch on it (situation in Bangladesh),” an ICC broad member told PTI.

It is to be noted that this update from the ICC comes after the Bangladesh Police imposed curfew and military forces patrolled Dhaka on Saturday , July 20 after the violence escalated in the capital of the South Asia country over protests against quota in government jobs.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led India Women are placed in Group A alongside six-time champions Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Qualifier 1. They will play all their group stage matches in Sylhet.
