Kevin Durant to purchase minority stake in Paris Saint Germain

Paris Olympics 2 024 gold medallist and NBA great Kevin Durant is set to purchase a minority in French club Paris Saint Germain. Durant took home the gold as an integral part of the USA men’s basketball team which defeated France in the final to become the Olympic Champions fifth straight time.

Durant visited the PSG training centre during the Summer Games where he and his team were part of a presentation regarding the sale. KD completed the sale via his investment firm Boardroom which bought his shares with a “single digit millions” through a separate financial vehicle created by Arctos Sports Partners that invested in PSG.

Arctos purchased a 12.5-per cent stake in PSG last year valuing the club at 4.25 billion euros.  According to The Athletic, Durant’s manager and co-founder of Boardroom, Rich Kleiman, was also in the meeting when the two sides met to complete the purchase.

Al-Khelaifi, PSG President, expressed excitement after Durant visited the club. Speaking on his international with Phoenix Suns star, the French club’s president said,  “It was an honour to welcome Kevin Durant to the Campus today and to witness his passion for Paris Saint-Germain and his recognition of the excellent sports facilities at our new PSG Campus training centre. Kevin is an inspirational athlete, investor and all-round role model, both on and off the pitch.”
