Kieron Pollard emulates Yusuf Dikec during 2024 The Hundred’s final; picture goes viral

Former West indies all-rounder, Kieron Pollard, who recently featured in one-of-a-kind The Hundred tournament in England, recently emulated the viral ‘gun pointing’ celebration which was created after the famous Turkish silver medallist at the Paris Olympics 2024 was seen participating without any gears. During the final of The Hundred men’s competition between the Oval Invincibles and the Southern Brave at the Lord’s in London, Pollard brought up a similar celebration.

Pollard, who only features in franchise tournaments around the world, brought up this celebration soon after dismissing Donovon Ferreira of Oval Invincibles. The West Indies international just stood at a place and did the gun pointing celebration with one of his hands in his pocket. Soon after this, picture of Pallard went viral on the internet. Moreover, it is to be noted that Pollard wasn’t the only one as his teammate, Akeal Hosein also opted for a similar celebration after he dismissed Sam Curran in the summit clash.

Who is Yusuf Dikec?

Turkey’s 51-year-old Yusuf Dikec, who recently featured at the Paris Olympics 2024, made headlines after he was seen playing in the shooting competition without sporting the complete gear. The Turkish Olympian, however, went on to win a silver medal in the mixed team 10m air pistol event on Tuesday, July 30, but grabbed the limelight for competing without the gear. While his pair Sevval donned specialised glasses and high-end ear protections like other participants, Dikec ditched them all and instead opted to go with regular prescription glasses and wore simple earplugs to cancel bullet noise.

The picture of Dikec with his limited gear and his hand in his pocket had gone viral after even saw several other athletes emulate the same action. It is to be noted that Dikec is competing in his fifth Olympic Games this year. The 51-year-old made his debut in 2008 at the Beijing Olympics but won his first medal in the mixed team event at the ongoing Paris Olympics. Apart from this, Dikec has won multiple gold medals in ISSF World Championships, ISSF World Cup, European Championships and the European games.
