PCI appoints Satya Prakash Sangwan as India’s Chef de Mission for 2024 Paris Paralympics

On Tuesday, August 21, the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) appointed Vice President, Satya Prakash Sangwan as the Chef de Mission for the upcoming Paris Paralympics 2024. With the 2024 Paris Paralympics set to get underway in less than ten days’ time, Satya Prakash Sangwan will travel with the side like former Olympic bronze medallist, Gagan Narang joined the Indian contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics earlier this month. 

“The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Satya Prakash Sangwan as the Chef de Mission for the Indian Paralympic team for the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Mr. Sangwan, who is also the Vice President of PCI, brings with him over a decade of dedicated service and experience within the Paralympic movement,” PCI statement read. 

“As Chef de Mission, Mr. Sangwan will lead India’s largest-ever contingent of 84 athletes competing across 12 sports disciplines. His role will be pivotal in ensuring that the Indian team has support and guidance they need to excel on the global stage,” the statement from PCI further read.

The PCI President and former Paralympian, Devendra Jhajharia also opened up after Satya Prakash Sangwan’s appointment at Chef de Mission. “Mr Satya Prakash Sangwan has been an integral part of the Paralympic Committee of India for over a decade. His dedication and leadership have always been an inspiration to our athletes. We are confident that under his guidance as Chef de Mission, our team will achieve great success at the Paris Paralympics 2024,” the PCI President said.

Sangwan, who will lead the 84-athlete squad at the upcoming Games, expressed his honour to being appointed the Chef de Mission. “It is a great honour to be entrusted with this responsibility. I am committed to ensuring that our athletes have everything they need to succeed and make India proud at the Paralympics,” he stated. 

The 2024 Paris Paralympics will be held from August 28 till September 8 in the French capital. India will field its largest-ever contingent, consisting of 84 athletes, who will feature across 12 sporting disciplines.
