WATCH: Maya Moore’s iconic number “23” jersey retired by Minnesota Lynx in emotional ceremony

On Saturday, August 24, Maya Moore’s iconic number “23” jersey in WNBA was officially retired by the Minnesota Lynx in an emotional ceremony at the Target Center in front of thousands of fans in attendance. The grand moment involving one of the greatest women’s basketball players in history happened after the Minnesota Lynx defeated the Indiana Fever 90-80 in their WNBA contest.

Maya Moore was honoured during the emotional ceremony wherein her iconic number “23” jersey was hung at the rooftop of the Target Center. With that, she joined Lindsay Whalen, Rebekkah Brunson, and Seimone Augustus to have their jersey numbers enshrined forever in the history of the Minnesota Lynx.

Apart from this accomplishment, Maya Moore was also gifted a special custom-made Jordan brand jacket, along with the gold shoes of the same brand. Her teammates at the Minnesota Lynx, namely Rebekkah Brunson and Sylvia Fowles were also in attendance at the Target Center.

Notbaly, during her legendary career with the Minnesota Lynx, lasting eight years, she led them to four WNBA championships, while earning a finals MVP in 2013. The WNBA MVP from 2014 also made the All-Star team six times, apart from winning the All-Star game MVP award three times.

After retiring from WNBA in 2023, Maya Moore, who is a social justice advocate, dedicates her life to working on noble causes.
