Indian (DOTA 2) team emerged as the top team in the South Asia Qualifiers for OXY 2024, held online from August 22 to 26, 2024. Their outstanding performance secured them a spot in the main event, scheduled for October 21 to 26 in Sochi, Russia.
The Indian team played exceptionally well throughout the South Asian Qualifiers, finishing in first place ahead of teams from Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. This achievement not only earned them the top position but also marks their first-ever qualification for the prestigious Sochi-based tournament.
Team India earned their place in OXY 2024 by winning the National Esports Championship 2024 (NESC24), one of the biggest and most important esports tournaments in India. The championship took place over seven days, from August 12th to 19th. After a week of intense competition, Team Avengers emerged as the champions.

Led by captain Abhishek Yadav, Team Avengers performed exceptionally well throughout NESC24. They faced tough competition but remained undefeated, proving their strength and teamwork. Their victory at NESC24 has earned them the honor of representing India in the prestigious OXY 2024 tournament in Sochi, Russia.

About OXY 2024
OXY 2024, officially known as “Открытые киберспортивные студенческие игры” (Open Esports Student Games), is a major international esports competition organized by the Russian Esports Federation. The event is specifically designed for student teams from around the world to compete in various esports titles. This will be the third edition of OXY, and it will feature 38 national teams competing for a substantial prize pool of 5,000,000 Rubles (approximately INR 45 Lakh).
The tournament is set to take place in Sochi, Russia, from October 21 to 26, 2024. This year marks India’s debut in the prestigious event, adding an exciting new chapter to the country’s growing presence in the global esports scene. OXY 2024 provides a platform for student players to showcase their skills on an international stage, making it a significant moment for all participating countries, including India.
