The 2024 edition of Paralympics kicked off on August 29 in the French Capital of Paris with a grand ceremony. Indian contingent consisting of 84 para-athletes will compete in 12 sporting disciplines and will have a shot at as many as 55 medals. In the previous edition of the marquee tournament, India finished at the 24th spot with five gold, eight silver and six bronze medals. Overall, Indian athletes have won as many as 31 medals from the 11 editions.
The Indian contingent delivered an average performance at the recently-concluded Olympics 2024, where the 117-member contingent could manage to bag only six medals with bronze and one silver. With several para-badminton and para-shooting stars participating in Paris this year, India will aim to make up for a forgettable Olympics 2024 campaign.
