Rohan Bopanna-Aldila Sutjiadi pair go down 3-6, 4-6 in mixed doubles US Open semi-final to Donald Young-Taylor Townsend

The Indian-Indonesian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Aldila Sutjiadi lost the US Open 2024 mixed doubles semi-final against the American pair of Donald Young and Taylor Townsend by 3-6, 4-6 scoreline. This defeat also marked the end of Bopanna and Sutjiadi’s campaign at the US Open. 

Rohan Bopanna and Aldia Sutjiadi were coming after a hard-fought victory in the quarter finals against Matthew Ebden and Barbora Krejcikova. The Indo-Indonesian pair beat their opponent by 7-6, 2-6, 10-7 in a battle which went on for one hour and 30 minutes but, ended up losing two straight sets against the American pair to bow out of the competition.

Rohan Bopanna loses men’s doubles round of 16 along with Matthew Ebden

This was not the only setback for Rohan Bopanna at the US Open 2024. He and his Australian partner, Matthew Ebden ended up losing the round of 16 fixture against the Argentine duo of Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni by 1-6, 5-7. Apart from that, Sumit Nagal also lost in the first round of men’s single while Yuki Bhambri and N Sriram Balaji also ended up losing in their respective games. 

The final of the US Open mixed doubles will be played between Donald Young – Taylor Townsend and Sara Erani – Andrea Vavassori on September 6. On the other hand, the men’s doubles semi-finals are set to take place September 6, with Marcelo Arévalo-Mate Pavić taking on KevinKrawietz-TimPütz in the first semi-final, while Max Purcell-Jordan Thompson pair will clash with Jackson Withrow-Nathaniel Lammons in the second semi-final.
