Ishan Kishan to miss Duleep Trophy opener: Reports

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who has been out of Team India’s central contract after his series of events, is set to miss the opening round of Duleep Trophy 2024-25. According to a report published by Cricbuzz, Ishan Kishan’s availability for Duleep Trophy opener is under cloud, possibly due to an injury. Notably, Duleep Trophy will serve as the beginning of India’s domestic season, which is scheduled to commence from September 5.

The Indian keeper-batter, who has been named in India D for the opening round, however, remains doubtful for the match with Sanju Samson likely to replace him in the side. Moreover, it is to be seen that Sanju Samson hasn’t been named in the squads for the domestic tournament, but with reported injury to Kishan, he is set to replace him in India D.

The 26-year-old recently featured in the ongoing Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, where he was representing his state team, Jharkhand. However, his participation was limited to only two games as his side could not go past the league stage. While he scored a century (114 runs) and 41* in the first match, he had a forgettable outing in the second game, registering scores of 1 and 5.

Speaking of the Duleep Trophy 2024, the four-team competition will see the teams playing three matches each. While the first round will commence from September 5, Team D’s second match is scheduled to start from September 12.
