Agar ye tournament jeetna hai toh…: Navjot Singh Sidhu shares advice for Rahul Dravid for T20 World Cup 2024

With the T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to kickstart in more than a month’s time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar are discussing to field India’s best 15. However, with the ICC setting May 1 as the deadline to submit the squad for the marquee event, the board are trying to put all permutations and combinations.

On the other hand, several cricket pundits have also poured in their suggestions for the T20 World Cup. Amid many is former India cricketer-turned commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu. The former Indian opener shared a piece of advice for Head Coach Rahul Dravid. According to Sidhu, Team India should travel with five wicket-taking specialists.

During a show on Star Sports, the host asked, “What message or advice would you give to Rahul Dravid on how India can break their ICC trophy drought after 11 years?” Here, the former Indian cricketer replied, “Meri seedhi si baat hai Rahul Dravid ko, agar tumne ye tournament jeetna hai, have five wicket-taking specialist bowlers. Simple”.

“3 spinners hai tumhare paas. Ravi Bishnoi hai, tumahre paas, Kuldeep (Yadav) hai, and Ravindra Jadeja picks himself. Vo batting, bowling dono mein No. 1 hai. Toh aap Kuldeep ko laiye ya usko (Bishnoi) laiye, Kuldeep is a preference. 2 spinners ho gaye, aur agar wicket spinning hai toh 3 ho gaye. Aur 3 fast bowlers chahiye,” he further added.

India squad for T20 World Cup to be announced on May 1: Reports

According to reports, the BCCI selectors are set to meet in Delhi in the coming days to finalise the India squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. If reports are to be believed, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav are certain to be picked in the 15-member squad, the spot for all-rounders is still to be finalised.

Earlier a report by Dainik Jagran stated that skipper Rohit Sharma will open the inning with Virat Kohli in the T20 World Cup 2024. However, the 36-year-old in an interview refuted it stating there have been no discussions on the same yet.
