BREAKING NEWS: Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi passes away At 77

Former India captain and legendary spinner Bishan Singh Bedi passed away on Monday at the age of 77. The left-arm spinning great was part of 67 Tests for India between 1967 and 1979 and took home a tally of 266 wickets. He also took seven wickets in 10 One-Day Internationals.

Bedi, alongside Erapalli Prasanna, BS Chandrasekhar and S. Venkataraghavan created the legendary spin quartet that helped India emerge as cricketing power house. Bedi also  played a key role in India’s first ODI win. The left-arm spinner had bowling figures of 12-8-6-1 restricted East Africa to 120 and helped India win the game in the 1975 World Cup.

After his retirement, Bedi remained an outspoken voice in the cricketing world and expressed his views on various issues related to the game. Bedi remains a revered figure in Indian cricket and will be celebrated for his craft and integrity to the sport.
