Fight erupts between groups at wrestling competition in Hyderabad; video goes viral

A scuffle broke out between two wrestling groups during a wrestling match at the LB Stadium in Hyderabad on October 6, Friday. The incident took place during a wrestling competition named ‘Modi Kesari Dangal’, where a small issue turned the entire event in a fight between spectators resulting in numerous injuries to a few members of the audience as well.

Wrestlers from various ‘akharas’ or wrestling groups were participating in a wrestling competition. During the event, an argument took place between two wrestlers, which eventually led to a physical altercation. Soon, groups supporting the wrestlers also joined the brawl and started attacking each other.

In a video now doing rounds on social media, two groups could be seen engaging in a physical fight, which caused a huge property loss at the venue. The wrestlers were also seen attacking each other with chairs in the video. The groups were said to be the relatives of city’s two prominent wrestlers, Zafar Pehlwan and Salam Bin Yousuf Pehlwan. 

The attack resulted in injury of a member, who was later shifted to a hospital. According to police officials, a case has been registered against the Zafar Pehlwan as well as his supporters. The incident triggered panic and tension at the venue, which saw the audience running out of the stadium.
