I presume ‘Dil Dil’ Pakistan wasn’t played in Chennai: Michael Vaughan after Afghanistan stun Pakistan

Afghanistan stunned Pakistan at the ongoing Cricket World Cup in Chennai on October 23 a they beat the Men in Green by eight wickets. While the side had hit back at India, post their seven-wicket thrashing in Ahmedabad on October 14, several came back to call out post their recent loss.

Among many was former England cricketer Michael Vaughan, who took a dig at the Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur for his comments post loss against India. The former England captained wasted no time to roast the team director as he took to X, formerly called Twitter, writing, “I presume ‘Dil Dil’ Pakistan wasn’t played in Chennai today”.

It is to be noted that Pakistan team director lashed out at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for not playing the song ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ at the Narendra Modi Stadium. “Look, I’d be lying if I said that it didn’t seem like an ICC event, tonight, to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn’t hear Dil Dil Pakistan coming through the microphones too often tonight,” Arthur aid in the post-match press conference.

Talking about the match between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the Babar Azam-led side won the toss and opted to bat first. The side posted 282/7 in their 50-over inning which was comfortably chased down by the Afghans with eight wickets in hand and one over left. While Ibrahim Zadran won the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock of 87, he also lauded his opening partner Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
