India had worst selection committee during 2019 ODI World Cup: Gautam Gambhir

Form er India cricketer Gautam Gambhir is not known for mincing his words. The ex-Indian cricketer once again hogged limelight by making another big statement, as he slammed the 2019 Indian selection committee. Gambhir, who is a part of one of the commentary panels for the ODI World Cup 2023, lashed out at the selection panel and indirectly pointed finger at them for India’s below par performance in the previous edition.

2023 marks a decade for India’s ICC trophy drought, since Men in Blue’s last victory during the 2013 Champions Trophy under captaincy of MS Dhoni. Since then, the Asian giants came close to several tournaments but couldn’t cross the final line. Team India ended up getting knocked out from the 2015 and 2019 World Cup editions during the semi-final stage. 

Gambhir, the 2007 and 2011 World Cup slammed the 2019 selection committee, consisting of MSK Prasad, Devang Gandhi, Sharandeep Singh, Jatin Paranjpe and Gagan Khoda. During the India vs New Zealand clash in the 2023 World Cup on October 22, Sunday, Gambhir said, “India had worst selection committee during 2019 ODI World Cup.” 

Speaking of the latest season of the marquee ICC tournament, India locked horns with 2019 finalists New Zealand at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Team India have recorded consecutive four victories in the tournament before locking horns with the Blackcaps.
