Mikel Arteta gives major Arsenal injury update on Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated that he expects Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey, who got injured earlier this week, to be out of action for the next few weeks. The 41-year-old was speaking in a press conference on Friday, October 27, before the Premier League clash for Arsenal against Sheffield United tomorrow, at the Emirates Stadium.

Gabriel Jesus picked up a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s 2-1 win against Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Tuesday, October 24, in the Group B clash of the UEFA Champions League. Meanwhile, a day prior, Thomas Partey got a slight muscle problem in his thigh, during the training session before flying out to Seville.

Earlier today, Mikel Arteta talked about the injury issues at Arsenal in the build-up to their weekend match in the Premier League. He was quoted as saying in the press conference, “He (Thomas Partey) has got a muscle injury and we expect him to be out for a few weeks. We don’t really know the extent of it still and he has more tests today. But he picked up that injury in training, in the last training session with the last kick of the ball before Sevilla. It’s very unfortunate,”

The Arsenal manager also spoke about the injury cloud surrounding Gabriel Jesus, who had first set up Gabriel Martinelli, before scoring the eventual winner against Sevilla in the UEFA Europa League. He said, “The scans show that there is a muscle injury and we might lose him for a few weeks again.”
