MotoGP 2023: Alex Marquez ruled out of Indonesian Grand Prix; know why

The Gresini Ducati racer, Alex Marquez has withdrawn from the ongoing Indonesian Grand Prix 2023. It is to be noted that the driver’s withdrawal comes after he suffered a multiple rib fracture during the qualifying at Bharat MotoGP in India. Notably, the MotoGP 2023 has come down to its 16 th  race of the season with four more left before the season calls off.  

But ahead of the Grand Prix of Indonesia 2023, which is set to take place at the Mandalika International Circuit in Indonesia, the 27-year-old Spanish driver opted out of the Indonesian GP after failing to recover fully. It is to be noted that Alex missed the Japan GP, prior to this and was attempting a return in Indonesia but his team confirmed the news on Friday, October 13.

However, the Gresini Racing took to X declaring the Spanish racer fit on Thursday, October 12, on Friday in post the team’s statement read, “@alexmarquez73 ruled out from the #IndonesianGP due to pain after trying his body conditions in fp1 @motogp.”

Talking about the injury the younger Marquez brother suffered at the Bharat MotoGP in India, he rode 13 laps and was 20 th  fastest at the FP1 in Indonesia. Alex Marquez currently sits at 11 th  place in the MotoGP 2023 standings with 108 points with one win and one pole.
