The match also saw Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan joining the squad after his short trip home. The Tigers took early control of the game and dismissed the Dutch batters in quick succession. Skipper Edwards once again stood tall in testing times and became the highest scorer on their side with his 89-baller-68.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s lethal bowling attack helped them restrict the Netherlands to an easy score of 229. However, the winds shifted during the early overs of the second innings. Edwards and his men emerged as late fighters and gave some early setbacks to the team. Litton Das became the first name to return to the hut on three off 12 balls.

The South Asian team had lost five wickets by the time they scored 69 runs. The Dutch bowlers continued their form and displayed top-class fielding efforts to restrict their opponents to 142 runs in the 43rd over and secure an 87-run win over their rivals.  Fast bowler  Paul van Meekeren took home the Player of the Match award for his four-wicket haul.
