Neymar India match | Neymar Mumbai City FC | Neymar Injury Mumbai City Match

The international break is over and the club football resumes with the AFC Champions League 2023-24 commencing its Matchday 3 on Monday. Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal are scheduled to host Indian Super League giants Mumbai City FC in the Asian Champions League on Monday, October 23, and are scheduled to travel to India for the second leg on November 6. However, all eyes remain on Brazilian star Neymar Jr.’s involvement in the fixtures.

The 31-year-old Neymar suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee during Brazil’s CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier loss against Uruguay on Tuesday. Uruguay not only handed a 2-0 defeat to Brazil for the first time after 22 years but also landed a horrific injury to Neymar.

Neymar took to his Instagram handle and talked about his injury. He wrote, “It’s a very sad moment, the worst. I know I’m strong but this time I’ll need my (family and friends) even more. It’s not easy going through injury and surgery, imagine going through all that again after 4 months of recovery. I have faith, even too much…  But the strength I put in the hands of God so that he can renew mine. Thanks for the messages of support and love.”

The 31-year-old will undergo surgery, although a date is not confirmed yet. According to ESPN Brasil, the CBF’s medical staff believes that Neymar could play again in eight months and could return for the Copa América, which will be taking place in the United States next summer.

The CBF stated, “The striker will undergo a surgical procedure, on a date yet to be defined, to correct the injuries. The Brazilian National Team’s medical department, under the supervision of Dr. Rodrigo Lasmar, and Al Hilal, are in permanent contact and aligned in the player’s recovery.”

If the reports are to be believed then Neymar will miss Al-Hilal’s clash against Mumbai City FC in November, however, an official confirmation is awaited from the Saudi League club or the Brazilian.
