Nico Hulkenberg to join Kick Sauber from 2025 season

With the 2024 edition of the Formula 1 calendar going steady, the German driver Nico Hulkenberg has signed with Kick Sauber for the 2025 season. The 36-year-old, who signed with the Haas in 2023 after his three-year-long absence from a full-time contract, will now part ways with the American squad at the end of the ongoing season.

It is to be noted that Hulkenberg will return to his previous team, where he represented in 2013. The German will join Kick Sauber, who will officially be taken over by German manufacturer Audi. “We are very pleased to welcome Nico back here in Hinwil from 2025 and to compete with him in Formula 1,” Andreas Seidl, CEO of Sauber Motorsport AG said.

“With his speed, his experience and his commitment to teamwork, he will be an important part of the transformation of our team and of Audi’s F1 project. Right from the start, there was great mutual interest in building something long-term together. Nico is a strong personality, and his input, on a professional and personal level, will help us to make progress both in the development of the car and in building up the team,” he further added.

The Haas Team Principal, Ayao Komatsu, who replaced Guenther Steiner also spoke of Nico’s departure. “I’d like to extend my thanks to Nico for his contributions to the team in the time that he’s been here with us – he’s been a great team player and someone we very much enjoy working with,” he said.

Not only did Komatsu heaped praise of the German driver, the 36-year-old himself took to social media to announce his association with Kick Sauber. “I am thrilled and honoured to return to Stake F1 Team KICK Sauber in 2025 and to represent the global German car manufacturer and technology pioneer AUDI on its way into Formula 1 in the future,” Nico captioned the post.
